A happily married couple make a very sensible agreement: honesty, respect … and absolutely no dramatic complications. Naturally, everything immediately becomes complicated. Enter a lovestruck admirer, a throwaway “impossible” promise (remove every dangerous rock from the coastline? !), and just enough magic to turn a casual joke into a full-blown romantic crisis. What follows is a chain reaction of noble gestures, impossible dilemmas, and people being far too honourable for their own good—until everyone is basically competing to be the nicest, most self-sacrificing person in medieval Europe.
